Happy New Year, friends!
2025 was a MASSIVE year for Twirlbound. Of course, the biggest highlight was that we shipped The Knightling! This little labor of love has been five years in the making, and we are so happy to have been able to share it with you.
This means that we spent a good amount of time last year developing The Knightling, and taking it on the road. We shared our game at Steam Next Fest, Day of the Devs, the inaugural Galaxies showcase, Gamescom in Germany, Playstation, Endix Expo, Indigo, IndieCritical, San Diego Comic Con, and The Hard Drive Game Awards, just to name a few. Whew!!
We did a bunch of Reddit AMAs, podcasts, features, and talks at conferences to share our experiences working on The Knightling. The Explore Breda Store hosted an exhibition of our little game as well, which was open to the public. It highlighted the studio and team, as well as the development of the game. And it was right in our hometown, making it extra special.
And then we rounded out the year by winning Best Audio at the Dutch Game Awards for The Knightling! You can totally see how excited we are in this picture.
Now that we’re in 2026, does this mean The Knightling’s journey is over? Maybe, maybe not…
Making a game (and shipping and marketing it) is tough, and in a year of amazing releases it’s even tougher to stand out. We believe that there is something very special about The Knightling, but we just haven’t found the right audience for it yet. We’re still working hard to get The Knightling in front of more players, so we’re going to be sharing devlogs on how we made the game, talking about it on social media, and submitting to showcases where it will fit. We hope that you’ll follow us and share that journey too!
Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, we’re already focused on developing our next project, which is still under wraps. We can’t give any specifics just yet, but we are building out protypes, pitching to publishers, and getting our project into shape so we can start production soon. We’re excited to show you what we have when the time is right!
